'White Room Syndrome' is when the scene you are reading, feels like it's happening inside an empty white room due to lack of description.
Q: What happens when a reader comes across a 'White room' when they read my script?
A: They get disconnected. They stop reading further.
Q: How to avoid 'White Room Syndrome'?
A: Simple. Add enough description to your setting(where the scene takes place).
Q: How do i do that?
A: Use the 'Five senses technique'.
Q: What's that?
A: Start by asking yourself these 5 Questions:
1)What does my Setting look like?
For instance, a bedroom can be well organised or messy.
2)What does my Setting sound like?
An empty Auditorium will sound different from a crowded street.
3) What does my Setting smell like?
A drunkard's home can be described as a 'place reeking of alcohol'.
4) What does my Setting feel like?
The place can feel hot, cold or humid.
5) What does my Setting taste like?
You can sometimes taste the salt on your lips when you are at the beach.
Describe your Characters too!
Not just the Setting, the same goes for your characters too!
Beware! This is how your character might look like if you don't describe them well enough:
